CAS Representative Teams

Representative teams are selected at the end of each CAS season, for most CAS sports. These teams will be found on the CAS website as soon as possible after selection. Where trials are held for sports Boys must attend the trial to be considered for selection.

Please note the following guidelines for each sport. –

AFL
From 2018 the CAS have selected an Opens AFL team. This team will be selected on form and will play a match against a GPS selection in the last week of term 2. The selection panel is made up of the AFL MICs and the CAS Convener.

Athletics
Due to the timing and placement of the CIS Championships, no team is selected from the CAS Track Championships. However, individuals can nominate and enter the NSW All Schools Championships run early in term 4

Basketball

1sts and 2nds CAS Basketball teams are selected to play games against AICES, GPS and ISA at the end of term 1. A selection trial is held the Monday after the end of the CAS Basketball competition.

Cricket

A CAS cricket team is selected to attend the CIS Open cricket trials. The CIS team then competes at the NSW All Schools carnival against CHS and CCC.

The CAS team has matches against ISA, GPS and ASC during Term 1

Tennis

A CAS Tennis team made up of 6 players is selected to attend the CIS Open tennis trials. The CIS team then competes at the NSW All Schools carnival against CHS and CCC. Two teams are selected at the end of the Summer season to play against the GPS and ISA at the end of term 1. This team is selected by school MIC’s and uses a players index, a trial held at the end of term 4, as well as performances based on results through the season as a guide.

Swimming

A large squad of representatives is selected following results of the CAS Swimming Championships in March each year from 12 years to Opens. The squad is invited to participate in the CIS Championships (soon after the CAS Champs).

For events not covered at CAS, individuals should advise their MIC of their desire to be considered for selection and advise of times ratified at a suitable swim meet.

CAS also selects school based relay teams to represent at CIS.

Following the CIS championships, a team is selected to represent at the NSW All Schools championships.

Diving

A team is selected following the CAS Diving Championships based on individual performances. These boys are invited to participate in the CIS Championships (help in conjunction with the CIS swimming champs at Homebush).

Rugby

Opens 5 Independent selectors are chosen by the CAS Sportsmasters committee in term 1 each year .

2 Open teams are selected to play the GPS in the last week of term 2 and prior to the NSW trials weekend.

2 teams are invited to participate in the NSW trials weekend at the end of term 2.

Following the NSW trials weekend, there are 2 NSW squads selected to compete at the Australian Championships in the term 2 holidays.

16s – Players will be selected to trial for CAS 16s team. The trial will consist of skills, drills and games run prior to the long weekend in term 2.

Any boy in an Open school team who wants to be considered for selection in the 16s CAS team must notify his MIC of Rugby.

Football ( Soccer )

Opens. Three Independent selectors are chosen by the CAS Sportsmasters committee. This group, along with the CAS Convener and the MICs from all schools meets and select an squad of 15 to trial at the CIS carnival in early term 2. Following these trials, a CIS squad is announced to play in the All School Championships at end of term 2.

U16s – Three Independent selectors are chosen by the CAS Sportsmasters committee. This group along with the CAS Convener and the MICs from all schools meet and select a squad of 12 to trial at the CIS carnival in early term 2. Following these trials, a CIS squad is announced to play in the All School Championships at end of term 2.

Debating

3 teams of 3 debaters are selected at the end of CAS competition to compete against the GPS and CCC and CHS.

Volleyball (winter)

In 2019 CAS selected its first Opens Volleyball team. This team will be selected on form and will play a match against a GPS selection in the last week of term 2. The selection panel is made up of the Volleyball MICs and the CAS Convener.
