CAS REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
Representative teams are selected, generally at the end of each CAS season, for most CAS sports. These teams will be found on the website as soon as possible and also recognised in the Sydney papers.
Please note the following guidelines for each sport ( as of August 07 ) –
Due to the timing and placement of the CIS Championships, no team is selected from the CAS Track Championships. However, individuals can nominate and enter the NSW All Schools Championships run early in term 4.
A team is selected towards the end of the CAS season and is invited to participate in the Lord’s Taverners cricket week ( mid march ). The CAS team is selected from performances over the 1st XI season and a net session held at the SCG in term 1.
The team also plays a trial match against the ISA prior to the Lord’s Taverners week.
Following the Lord’s Taverners week, a NSW schoolboy team is selected to play against Queensland Schoolboys in term 4 for the Carbine Club Cup.
Two teams are selected at the end of the Summer season to play against the GPS at White City at the end of term 1. This team is selected by school MIC’s and use a players index ( performances based on results through the season ) as a guide.
CAS also play a fixture against the ISA at the end of the Winter season. The same selection process is used as selecting the Summer representative team.
A large squad of representatives are selected following results of the CAS Championships in March each year from 12 years to Opens. The squad are invited to participate in the CIS Championships ( soon after the CAS Champs ).
For events not covered at CAS, individuals should advise their MIC of their desire to be considered for selection and advise of times ratified at a suitable swim meet.
CAS also selects schol based relay teams to represent at CIS.
Following the CIS championships, a team is selected to represent at the NSW All Schools championships.
A team is selected following the CAS Diving Championships based on individual performances. These boys are invited to participate in the CIS Championships ( help in conjunction with the CIS swimming champs at Homebush ).
Opens ( 5 Independent selectors are chosen by the CAS Sportsmasters committee in term 1 each year )
2 Open teams are selected to play the CHS on the thursday before the Queens Birthday long-weekend.
2 Open teams are selected to play the GPS in the last week of term 2 and prior to the NSW trials weekend.
2 teams are invited to participate in the NSW trials weekend at the end of term 2.
Following the NSW trials weekend there are 2 NSW squads selected to compete at the Australian Championships in the term 2 holidays.
16s – A North Harbour and South Harbour team is selected to trial for CAS 16s team. The North v South match is played prior to the Opens CHS fixture at Cranbrook prior to the long weekend in term 2.
Any boy in an Open school team and wants to be considered for selection in the 16s One CAS team is then selected to participate in the NSW trials.
Football ( Soccer ) –
Opens.( Three Independent selectors are chosen by the CAS Sportsmasters committee ) A squad of 15 is selected to trial at the CIS carnival in early term 2. Following these trials, a CIS squad is announced to play in the All School Championships at end of term 2.
2 Open CAS teams are selected to play the annual fixture against the GPS and ISA at the end of term 2.
Year 10s – A North and South Harbour team is selected and trials on the Thursday before the long weekend in term 2. From this trial a CAS team ( known as the Opens CAS 3rd XI ) play agains tthe GPS 3rd XI at the end of term 2 with the other 2 open teams.
3 teams of 3 debaters are selected at the end of CAS competition to compete agains the GPS and CCC and CHS.
