Vale Barry Collins, AM, Member of the General Committee of the Associated Schools 1982 to 2001.

The General Committee of the Associated Schools records its profound gratitude for the life and service of Mr Barry Collins AM, a faithful, wise and dedicated servant of his beloved Trinity Grammar School and the CAS.
During his years at Trinity Grammar School (1942-1946), Mr Collins was a proud and dedicated contributor to CAS activities.

He represented the school with distinction as a member of the 1st XV Rugby Team and the Ist XI Cricket Team, captained the Track & Field squad, and served as a senior lieutenant in the Cadet Corps. In each of these roles, he embodied the highest ideals of fair play, leadership, and athletic skill — values that lie at the very heart of the CAS tradition. It was this unwavering commitment and character that led to his appointment as Trinity School Captain in 1946.

He established a successful career in Chemical Engineering where he earned renown from all those with whom he
interacted. His work spanned international leadership roles and earned him an AM in 2015 for contributions to industry and community.

Mr Collins remained committed to Trinity and served on the School Council from 1980 to 2001. He was a member of the Building Committee of Trinity Council for many years and presided over numerous significant capital developments, which strengthened the life of his alma mater.

It was through his service to Trinity that Mr Collins gave wise and committed support to the General Committee of the Associated Schools. His faithful presence at all meetings and events surpassed the customary expectations of Board membership. Mr Collins gave strong practical counsel in the management practices and policies of the CAS. He sought to provide experiences to students within the CAS that were consistent with the educational ideals of its member institutions and helped to guide the Committee through the changing landscape of sporting events in Sydney schools. Together with the stalwarts from other Councils who served on the CAS Committee, Mr Collins voluntarily provided his expertise in the good management of the CAS and offered kindly fellowship to all colleagues, Heads and alumni of member schools. His attendance at CAS events demonstrated that his commitment was sacrificial and genuine.

The General Committee of the Associated Schools acknowledges with heartfelt gratitude the contribution of Mr Barry Collins and extends our profound condolences to the Collins Family in their loss. We honour the legacy of Barry Collins and delight that this legacy is upheld not only by the spirit of the Association but also by the continued service of Dr Peter Collins, who presence on the Committee sustains the wisdom and dedication of his father in support of the CAS.

In the Final on Sunday CAS defeated GPS A. This was a very tight game with GPS leading most of the game getting out to a 14 point lead at one stage. CAS then scored 19 unanswered points to win the game 34 to 29.
