In perfect conditions for Cross country running the CAS Cross Country Championships were conducted on Saturday 5th August at Sydney Park.

The results were as follows

The winning team and winners of the Neil Logan Shield Cranbrook on 15 points, Trinity 2nd on 25 points and 3rd Waverley on 52 points

CAS have defeated GPS in the annual Cross Country Challenge held on Saturday 29th July at Sydney Park.

CAS won a very close the Junior race 17 points to GPS 20. The Intermediates race was a good win to CAS 13 to GPS 29. In the Opens race GPS were dominate winning 10 points to CAS 31.

Many thanks to all involved especially the Convener of the Combined Cross Country Competition Mr Jeremy Longworth for all of his work during the season.

The CAS Championships will be held next week at Sydney Park starting at 10am with the South Harbour schools hosting.

The CAS U16s rugby team have finished the NSWSRU Championships winning the Bowl playoff against CHS 48 to 14.

The weekend started with a tough match against the GPS Presidents B side. CAS Scored first but could not maintain the momentum and ended losing the game 26 -7 with a try to Daryus Sione and conversion to Tom McKenna.

The next game of the Saturday saw CAS play CCC. CCC came out of the gates firing and scored first to lead 7 nil. CAS then rallied and wrestled back the lead before half time. A strong performance in the second half saw CAS finish winners 24 to 14 with tries to Marcus Mastro, Tom Haslam, Josh Barr and Archie Tunks. Conversions to Tom McKenna and Archie Tunks.

In the Bowl final CAS were drawn to play CHS in the second match of the day on Sunday. CAS were out of the blocks early and scored in the first 5 minutes. From here they were never headed and ran out winners 48 to 14. Tries to Sione-Nua Lua, James Finegan, Jarvis Orr, Josh Barr, Vjay Vakauta, Lucas  Harding and 2 to Taj Aufai-Farani. CAS 1sts and 2nds Rugby teams have had good wins over CHS in the last day of the NSW Schools Rugby Union trials at Eric Tweedale Stadium at Merrylands on Friday 23 June.

CAS 2nds V CHS 2nds was the first match to kick off the day. It took CAS a while to get into a rhythm but they did the tries started to flow. The final score was 45 to 10. Try scorers were Noah Tofaeono x 2, Noah Wicks, Noah Jackson, Sam Niulala, Will Potent and Ethan Kotarac, Conversions to Felix Turinui x 4 Henry Colvin.

CAS 1sts were the next match of the day and worked hard in the early exchanges of the match before coming out on top 62 to 29. Tries to Jonathan Ryan x 3, Malakye Enasio x 2, Orly Hatton-Ward, Will Goddard and Reilly Caswell.

CAS went down to GPS in the Volleyball on Thursday night at Trinity Grammar School. It what was its usual tight contest CAS came out firing in the first set and won 28 to 26. The change of ends saw GPS come away with the 2nd set 25 to 20 to tie up the match. The 2rd set saw GPS jump out to an early lead that CAS tried to claw back but it was too much with GPS winning the set 25 to 19.

CAS had to win the next set to push the match to it usual 5 set game but it was not to be with GPS winning the 4th set 25 to 21 and the match.

CAS have gone down in a hard fought match against the GPS Presidents team at Barker Oval on Wednesday afternoon.

The first half was a very close battle with 1 point separating the teams at quarter time GPS 13 CAS 12. At half time it was 2 points GPS 21 CAS 19.

In the 3rd Quarter GPS accuracy with the kicking started to tell and they skipped out to a 8 point lead at 3/4 time GPS 35 CAS 27.

In the final quarter missed shots for CAS started to take their toll with a final score of CAS 5.12 42 and GPS 9.7 61 to run out winners.

Well done to all the players and Coaches and managers of the teams.

A special thanks to the staff at AFL NSW/ACT Bronte Mannering and Phil Spratt for the support of the match and the provision of a full complement of officials for the match.

CAS has gone down to GPS in both 1sts and 2nds in tonight’s games at Knox Grammar.

The final score in 1sts was GPS 40 to 26 CAS. Try scorers for CAS were Ned Ericsson, Jonas Dowling and Jonathan Ryan with two. Orly Hatton-Ward 3 conversions.

In 2nds the final score in was GPS 26 to 7 CAS with a try to Sam Niulala and conversion to Henry Colvin.
