In 2026 the CAS will play 2 weeks of trials against AAGPS and ISA Schools 5 weeks of Rugby fixtures that align with the Football and winter Volleyball and Tennis. In term 3 there would be 3 weeks of games that are graded by age group and schools split into 2 pools.
The Plume Shield would be determined after all games have been played in term 3 with the points for all 8 games played included in the calculations to determine the Premiers.
How are Pools determined
* Pools are determined by each school’s 1sts and A grade teams placing in during the 5 weeks of CAS games in term 2. EG if a school’s 13A’s is ranked first after the 5 CAS games in term 2 then all of the teams in that age group (B, C etc) will be in the top pool. If then their 14As are ranked 5th then all teams in the age group will be in the lower pool.
* If Schools are tied on points, then the result of the match between the 2 schools will be used to determine the placing. If still tied it would move to the team that scored the first, try in the game. If no tries are scored it would be first points. If still no points are scored or there is a wash out, then it would go to the best for and against between the teams.
Week 1: 2 v 3, 5 v 6 cross over 1 v 4
Week 2: 1 v 3, 4 v 6, cross over 2 v 5
Week 3: 1 v 2, 4 v 5, cross over 3 v 6
All ages and grades play according to the U19 laws and also have a number of CAS by-laws to suit our own purposes.
Representative teams are also selected through the course of the season, as boys strive for selection in NSW schoolboy teams at Open level and Under 16’s. All details in the Representative section.
CAS will select 2 Open teams and 1 U16 team for the NSWSRU trials.
